Brief additional information: Viktor V. Bogatov is a specialist in freshwater hydrobiology, biogeography and biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems, malacology and conservancy. He headed the Department of Organization of Scientific Research of the Presidium of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1994-2002, and was the organizer and head of eight Russian-American-Japanese expeditions to study the biota of the Kuril archipelago and Sakhalin Island, the Amur basin, Moneron Island and the Shantar Islands. Viktor V. Bogatov holds the position of the Chief Scientific Secretary of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2013. Нe is the member of the Bureau of the Presidium of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Bureau of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Hydrobiology and Ichthyology, member of the International Society of Limnology (SIL), North American Bentological Society (NABS) , International Society of Medical and Applied Malacology (ISMAM). Viktor V. Bogatov is the deputy editor-in-chief of the journal “Vestnik of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences”, member of the editorial boards of the journals “Ecology”, “Russian Hydrobiological Journal”, “Bulletin of the Far Eastern Malacological Society” and several others.
Over the past 5 years, Viktor V. Bogatov lead Russian-Vietnamese interdisciplinary hydrobiological, biogeochemical and environmental studies under the program of the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences and Russian Academy of Sciences. He leads scientific researches, and he actively works on expeditions, personally collects aquatic organisms in the cold rivers and lakes of the Russian Far East and in the tropical waters of Vietnam, and performs laboratory studies.
Viktor V. Bogatov is the author of more than 200 scientific articles, 10 monographs and textbooks. For outstanding achievements in fundamental hydrobiology and a great personal contribution to international cooperation, Viktor V. Bogatov received the highest scientific award of Russian hydrobiologists – the G. G. Vinberg Medal.
